Glossary of Stones

One of the primary stones to activate the flow of energy and Qi throughout the energy body. It powerfully removes obstruction and stagnation. It is especially good at removing letcherous entities and "clingers". It is a powerful ally for protection against dark energies as well as radiation and electromagnetic "smog".

Agates are not particularly known for their swift, powerful energetics. They are, however, steady and stabilizing. There are a wide variety of Agates, each with their own partticular signature frequency.

Ajoite is a very necessary stone for this age. It is another stone of the Goddess and is very healing to the emotional body. It's energy is one of "Supreme Nurturer". It harmonizes the emotions, calms mental chatter and reduces inflammation on all levels. Ajoite is one of the premier stones to bring the angelic realm to us, and creating the internal harmony to allow communication with them.

Alexandrite is a strong stone used to access both Divine Wisdom as well as Divine Love. It is an excellent stone for those in a state of Spiritual doubt and self-pity as it brings joy and heart opening into the darkness of the moment.

Amazonite is basically a stone version of truth serum. This stone disallows repression of emotions and strongly aids in the expression of one's truth. This is a great ally for those who are afraid to "tell it like it is".

Amblygonite is often used both for creative blocks as well as for finishing projects. This is the primary stone ally for any serious artist.

Amegreen is a combination of Amethyst and Prasiolite. It carries Amethyst's high vibrational frquencies and Divine connection with Prasiolite's attunement to compassion and loving kindness. This is a great meditation stone and one that can be used to find one's center within one's heart.

The stone of the Violet Flame. It is a wonderful meditation ally as it is protective, calming, and clearing and brings in high energy beings. Some use Amethyst to connect with their specific guides.

Ametrine is a combination stone that contains Amethyst and Citrine. This is a great combination to assist in healing addictions and self-destuctive habits. The stimulating and clarifying energies of Citrine direct the high vibrational aspects of Amethyst to catalyze a shift from "My Will to Divine Will".

Andalusite has an interesting combination of powerful psychic protection while providing a sense of nurturing. It also helps prevent energy depletion and nervous system exhaustion in people who are either doing alot of psychic and healing work and/or those who are constantly in precarious situations. This is a powerful ally for healers, firemen, police officers, etc.

Angelite is, as it's name implies, a premier stone to access and communicate with the Angelic realms. It is also used in mediumship to communicate with people who have crossed over to the other side.

Aquamarine is a wonderful stone to help us with speaking our truth, and clear communication. It works on the throat chakra exceptionally well. It also is very helpful at cooling a "caustic tongue" or improper communication rooted in fear and anger.

Astrophyllite is an amazing stone that aids in multidimensional travel, communication with beings from a variety of dimensions, and is also Shamanically employed for the exorcism of unwanted energies and entities.

Some say Azeztulite is like a sister stone to Satyaloka Quartz, in that they seem to be on the same channel, and provide the same access to very similar dimensions. Together, they make a unique synergistic combination and reinforce each other very well. They are used to activate psychic potentials and full sensory perceptions, and expand consciousness. Azeztulite, Satyaloka Quartz, and Phenacite are three of the top twelve stones to raise human consciousness.

Azurite is used to enhance full sensory perception and psychic ability while strengthening the energy body making it less vulnerable to psychic attack.

Malachite combines the ability to “screen” in coming energies and block out lower vibrations and malintent while activating spiritual discernment and “right action”. Azurite is a great stone for aiding learning and assisting the assimilation of experiences on any level. It is protective, and strengthens the energy bodies and aura. It also strongly stimulates the visionary experience and awakens one’s psychic abilities.

Barite assists in dreamwork and interdimensional travel. It strongly clears the way to the access of one's Higher Self. It is also used in Hemispheric balancing of the brain. Some say it clears obsolete genetic patterning.

Benitoite is a strong stone for awakening full sensory perception, especially visionary states.

Beryllonite is the stone of choice when someone is in the throws of Spiritual cynasism and doubt. When one has "been forsaken by the Divine" and has lost faith, Beryllonite can be called upon.

Bixbite is a stimulating vitality stone. It can help in the recovery of longterm illness, stimulate passion,can help athletes recover quickly, and is used for infertility.

Black Andradite Garnet is a very powerful ally for protection and grounding. It is also a stone of accessing one's deep personal power. This incredible psychic vacuum cleaner is the kind of stone you want around you when you are weak and therefore prone to negative energy attacks. It is the ally of choice to put in children's rooms to prevent nightmares, as well as hospital rooms, Hospices, and in any healer's office. Shamans will find that this is the"go to"stone for retrieving information from the Lower World.

These crystals are about as potent as it gets when it comes to spiritual protection. They completely protect the wearer from energies of the lower astral planes and do not allow darker energies into your auric field while they clean out the existing darkness that you may be unconsciously carrying around with you. They also greatly expand your consciousness while healing your nervous system, thereby preparing you for exposure to very high frequencies.

Incredible at clearing negativity and dark energies from one’s aura, energy bodies, and even one’s surroundings. I consider these stones as “work horses”. They are extremely grounding and are even beneficial to “dark” moods, stress, anger, obsessive compulsive behaviors,and pessimism.

Bloodstone is frequently employed to "reboot" physical vitality. It activates a sort of "Spiritual stamina", so is a good ally to have around when "the Path" becomes challenging and life is full of transitions.

Brookite commonly comes in very small cube like shapes that resemble small pieces of lava rock (although sometimes it comes in beautiful crystals), but don't be fooled by it's lack of outer pizazz. This is one of the strongest stones on the planet for the expansion of consciousness. It activates communication with transdimensional entities and can take you pretty far out there. Excellent stone for a medicine pouch.

Cacoxenite is an inclusion (often mistaken for Rutile) found in Amethyst and Quartz. Some report that it activates new genetic material within the body, and can be used as an anti-aging elixer. It is highly activatingand boosts the strength of the stone that contains it.

There are many types and colors of Calcite, all with their own unique abilities.

Calcite (Merkabite) is a potent type of Calcite that resonates at a very high frequency. It activates and clears the energy body of blockages and harmonizes well with other high energy stones.

Calcite (Stellar Beam) is another potent type of Calcite that works exceptionally well at accessing and communicating with multidimensional entities, especially one's own spirit guides. It is also excellent at creating energy grids of high vibrations for healing spaces, meditation and ceremonial spaces.

Carnelian is an "activator" stone and a stone that enhances physical vitality and sexual energy. It is also used to help with manifesting one's dreams.

Charoite is a very useful stone for people who are regularly working with energy and energetic medicine because it grounds out excessive energies and regulates their flow, thereby preventing "healer's burn-out". It closely mirrors the Lao Tsu quote on the Home Page about transforming yourself first to be of true service to others.

Chrysocolla is another Goddess stone, but this is also a stone that I call the Tai Chi stone as it seems to contain a wonderful Yin/Yang balance eminating the strength behind gentleness and the softness inside of right action. It is a phenomenal stone for teachers, chanters, and singers as it clears the throat chakra and allows for the purest vocal expression of truth.

Clinochlore is a relative of one of my favorite stones, Seraphinite. Clinochlore is awesome at healing the physical body and acts like a mineral adaptogen against many diseases, even cancer. I feel it to be like a mineral version of Ginseng (Traditional Chinese Medicine) or Ashwaganda (Ayurvedic medicine).

Cuprite is a primary fertility stone and works on the physical body. It is especially effective at working on all aspects of the female hormonal system. It is also Shamanically used to access the "womb of creation" and the deeper recesses of the archetypal feminine.

Danburite is an amazing calming stone that reduces anxiety, worry, and insomnia. It is a very high frequency stone that fascilitates communication with one's highest guides. This is a very beneficial stone for anyone who is trying to juggle a true Spiritual practice and the stress of the mundane world.

Dioptase is excellent as a meditation piece to sooth both the physical and Spiritual Heart. It powerfully addresses healing of the emotions on all levels, and those going through deeply emotionally charged life transitions.

Dream Quartz is actually Quartz crystal with Epidote inclusions. This synergy fascilitates stress reduction, relaxation, and lucid dreaming. Great piece to have by the bed.

Dumortierite is a powerfully activating stone that removes obstructions from the meridians. it is also known as a "fine tuner" assisting the ability to hone in on very specific frequencies in the astral plane.

Epidote is used to eliminate habituated sarcasm, pessimism, negativity, and toxic judgementalism.

Faden Quartz are some of the most healing of the Quartz family. They are used to repair damage to the aura and etheric body as well as injury to the physical body.

Flourite is an excellent ally to promote mental clarity, focus, and concentration. It aids in Hemispheric balancing of the brain, and helps harmonize most mental instabilities.

Gaia Stone is actually the name given to a man made glass utilizing the ash from the eruption of Mt. St.Helens in 1980. Occasionally, a man made crystal or mineral will manifest with metaphysical properties, and Gaia Stones are included in this group. They resonate with the power of the Feminine and the Goddess.

Gel Lithium Silica is a very quieting, soothing stone that brings peace to the emotional body and helps fascilitate prayer and meditation.

Gem Silica is a combination of Chrysocolla and Quartz. This is the premier stone for the throat chakra and for speaking one's truth with ultimate clarity. It is also an excellent stone for sound healers, singers, teachers, and chanters. I like combining it with Ajoite and Tibetan Black Quartz.

Herderite is a very powerful and necessary stone for this stage in the development of human consciousness. It is the premier stone to harmonize and heal afflictions of the brain. It heals the brain and prepares this physical structure to be available to the massive shifts that we have just begun to experience, and to normalize the transition out of a 3D reality into a multidimensional reality.

These stones are very purifying to one's aura as well as to one's work, healing, and/or living space. They are maginfiers and purifiers of the energetics of other stones. Herkimers are great for astral travel, interdimensional journeying, and lucid dreaming. I use Herkimers to "enlighten" my treatment room in my Acupuncture clinic, and it is uncanny how on days when they are at home being cleaned, there is a noticeable difference in the room compared to when they are there. They definitely bring purifying light in!

Infinite (green or grey South African Serpentine) is another stone frequently employed to cleanse the aura of habituated negativities. Often used by Reiki practitioners, this stone is excellent for people who are perpetually stressed and depleted. It is a great stone to bring with you on your outdoor meditations as it opens the doorways to the realms of the Nature Spirits.

Iolite is a stone that Shaman like to use for journeying as it helps fine tune the visual element of the journey. Very much a visual stone, especially when combined with other stones, Iolite can add to or increase the power of the visions of any meditation or journey.

Jade (Green Nephrite) is a very tonifying and harmonizing stone beneficial to both the emotional and physical self. It has also classically been used for centuries as a stone of abundance and for fertility

There are many types of Jade and Jadeite, each with their own unique properties.

There are many varieties of Jasper, each with their own unique properties. I love Jasper. It is not a high energy stone, or very flashy, but I always seem to have a piece of it on me or with me. It is a classic Shamanic stone that has been used for ages and tends to work slow and steady.

I use Jet a lot for people that are "in the trenches" in core Shamanism, Wicka, etc. It is grounding and protective- especially against ill-intended people and Dark Magic. It absorbs negative energy and deflates the energy behind malicious "darts".

Kunzite is a beautiful and loving stone. It resonates with the energy of Divine Love and joyful self-love. It opens the Heart, and dissolves protective blocks unconsciously put up in the Heart chakra as a response to emotional trauma and pain.

Kyanite stimulates intuition and psychic abilities. It carries the resonance of the diplomatic trailblazer, assisting in the synthesis of one's unique gifts and potentials.

Labradorite is one of my favorite stones for accessing the fun and magic of interdimensional travel. It is a stone that aids the navigation of the many levels of reality while protecting the wearer from picking up any "clingers" during the journey. When I wear it frequently, synchronicities abound.

Lapis Lazuli was one of the primary stones in ancient Egypt utilized by the royalty to enhance psychic ability and maintain their connection to the Star beings of Sirius. It is a powerful stone for the Spiritual seeker as it helps open one's receptive channels, activate full sensory perception, and helps integrate one's experiences. It has been associated with the Medicine Buddha and the power of healing for thousands of years in Asia.

Larimar is a calming and soothing stone that opens the Throat chakra and fascilitates the harmonized communication of one's emotional state. It is a stone of the Goddess and the Divine Feminine, and is frequently employed by pregnant women and new Moms to aid in the transitions and recovery of birthing.

Lemurian Seed Crystals are excellent meditation tools for connection with the Divine and especially the extremely high frequencies of the Sacred Feminine. I find these crystals to be extremely powerful in experiencing "oneness" during meditation. Their soft, angelic energies are simultaneously super potent and very soothing and nurturing.

Libyan Gold Tektite is another stone that was used by the Ancient Egyptian royalty for its professed supernatural powers. In fact, King Tut's funerary necklace used it for its central pendant. Great for mental and creative endeavors as well as for maintaining psychic boundaries.

Lilac Lepidolite is a helpful stone at reducing worry, stress, and tension. It is also helpful in relaxing and quieting the mind in meditation.

Malachite is a very valuable stone for psychic protection and for healing the Heart. It strongly activates the Solar-plexus chakra and thereby activates will-power. It also is an excellent stone for people in a leadership role as it fascilitates discernment and right action.

Merlinite is a very interesting stone. It is a shamanic stone that accesses travel into the shadows and darkness of the psyche so that our repressions can be identified, surfaced, and healed. Definitely a stone of magic(k), Wicca, and occult studies of all kinds.

Moldavite is essentially an extraterrestrial glass that was probably created by a meteorite impact. Some have speculated that it was the green stone in the Holy Grail. This stone emanates such an intense vibration, that even people that feel nothing from other crystals often get head rushes and pins and needles from Moldavite. It is one of the most activating stones on the planet, and elevate most other stones to a higher vibration.

Morganite is a stone of Cosmic and Divine Love and compassion. Excellent stone for clearing the Heart and Heart chakra of emotional toxicities like resentment, fear, anger, and hatred. Cleans up emotional ties from past and current relationships that have weakened or damaged the Heart.

One of the most potent stones for activating full sensory perception and Spiritual attunement. Powerfully opens the third-eye and crown chakras, and is excellent for healing and reprogramming the brain to accomodate Spiritual evolution and Higher frequencies.

Nuumite is a "go to" stone for Shamanic soul retrievals. It is known as a stone of mastery of the self and can activate psychic, intuitive, and clairvoyant experiences.

There are numerous types of obsidian, each with unique metaphysical properties. Black Obsidian is what most people think of when they think of Obsidian (See also Mahogany, Peacock, and Rainbow).

Onyx is a powerfully grounding and protecting stone. It has been used in malas and in rituals in Tibetan Buddhism and many other traditions for a very long time.

Peacock Obsidian is a protective stone used in Shamanic journeying and astral travel.

Phenacite has been called the ultimate stone to open the Third Eye. This is a very powerful stone, and similar to Moldavite, can often be felt by even the least likely of people. It strongly cleans one’s aura while powerfully opens one up to communicate with Multidimensional beings. This stone acts like a high voltage antennae to the higher realms and can bring about full sensory perception.

Associated with, and indeed carries the frequency of, the High Priestess. It is often used to become reharmonized with the cycles of Nature, and is one of the best allies to use in past life regression work

From the Satya Loka Mountains of Southern India, where it is ritually collected by the monks of the Satya Loka Monestary. The monks even say that there are high Angelic beings that program the crystals so that they may be of use during this present evolutionary stage of human consciousness. This stone is one of the premier stones to access the highest dimensions and communicate with the light beings that dwell there. These crystals definitely live up to their reputation- they radiate pure white light.

I have a hard time not putting at least a little Seraphinite in almost every necklace I make. Probably the best stone at healing the physical body ( along with Clinichlore) and for cellular regeneration. It is a high frequency stone that powerfully prepares the physical body to withstand the very high frequencies that we will all be experiencing over the next few years as Great Long Count of the Mayan Calendar ends on the Winter Solcstice, 2012.

Tiger Eye is said to be the favorite meditation stone of His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet, Tiger Eye is a grounding stone that assists in physical vitality.
